The Nikon AF 85mm f/1.8 D is a telephoto lens suitable for APSC and FF format cameras produced from 1994 to 2005, it is currently out of production but there is the possibility of being able to find it for sale used with a considerable economic saving. Focusing occurs via the reflex's AF motor which, however, could be noisy, image stabilization is absent. The shooting angle is quite small, 28.6 degrees, but it is normal compared to lenses in the same category. The minimum focusing distance is 85 centimetres, the lens hood is supplied. The dimensions and weight are within the norm and guarantee comfortable use even for long photographic sessions. The workmanship and materials are of the classic quality of the Japanese company, guaranteeing resistance and durability. The reproduced images are quite sharp and without significant defects, aberrations and distortions are practically absent. At full aperture it loses a bit of sharpness but this is normal in relation to the category of the lens.
The Nikon AF 85mm f/1.8 D is suitable for professional and amateur use, it is quite versatile and capable of producing noteworthy images. The ease of use is a factor that could make it appealing even to those who are not particularly technically familiar. The cost is to be considered irrelevant, as it is out of production and it is almost impossible to find it for sale new, however, there is a good chance of finding it used in good condition at a very advantageous price. It could be a good compromise to increase your photographic kit.
