The AF-S 70-200mm F-4 G ED VR of Nikon is a very well balanced and functional product, as well as versatile for different situations. The construction of the optical group is quite complex, it is in fact 20 elements in 14 groups, 3 of which ed. The diaphragm consists of 9 lamellae and has the VR system with 4 stops, together with the internal focus and zoom, all in rather compact dimensions and capable of offering high performance.
For '' compact '', 78mm x 178.5mm is meant in 850 grams of weight. The front has 67mm filters and a rather small HB-60 bayonet. What amazes is how it was possible to make it even lighter than the previous model, making it more practical and easy to handle.
The slightest distance to focus is 1 meter, with a maximum magnifying ratio of 1: 3.6. It does not offer the focal extension of the largest model. The ring has zoom marks with 70mm focal lengths, to 200mm and in less than a quarter of lap you go from 70 to 200. The focus box has no field depths or IR markings, but has references from3 10 feet, plus reduced from 1 to 5m, in addition to the infinite value.
On the side there are 4 position switch: focus on/m - m; limitation of complete focus or from infinite to 3m; Activation and deactivation of the VR and normal VR mode.
The F-4 model adapts better into smaller bags, weighs less and therefore is preferable for those who also want to perform long exhibitions without suffering their weight. The zoom and focus rings have a good grip and are very silent, as well as they turn very fluidly and the tripod collar is removable.
