Recensione Tokina AT-X Pro 11-16mm f/2.8 DX II Usato

The Tokina AT-X Pro 11-16mm f/2.8 DX II is a wide-angle lens produced since 2012, it is only suitable for APSC format cameras and is sold with different mounts to satisfy the requests of various buyers. Focusing is automatic and occurs via a non-ultrasonic AF motor and image stabilization is not present. The shooting angle varies depending on the focal length used: with the minimum focal length (11mm) there is an opening of 105.2 degrees, while with the maximum (16mm) the opening drops to 84 degrees. The minimum focusing distance is 30 centimeters and the lens hood is supplied. Weight and dimensions are within the norm and the materials are of good quality, even if slightly plasticky, giving resistance and durability. The images are characterized by good sharpness with fairly faithful colors, the various defects resulting from the use of wide angle lenses, such as distortions or aberrations, are limited and in any case completely manageable in PP. There is a strong presence of flare which could be annoying, the focus appears to be not very precise and not capable of being reliable. The Tokina AT-X Pro 11-16mm f/2.8 DX II is a lens suitable for various circumstances, the wide shooting angle makes it quite extreme and difficult to use in portraiture or in any case in photos where a narrower angle is necessary . The cost is relatively low, it can be a good investment to increase a kit. Being a dated lens, there is a good chance of finding it used, so the price could be reduced.
